Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Toru Ohta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peppu Reiska MacDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ohta's entrance music is Technopolis. A fine choice. MacDonald has chosen ENNIO MORRICONE -"Sixty Seconds To What?" as his entrance music. Peppu Reiska MacDonald acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Toru Ohta!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Peppu Reiska MacDonald!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacDonald tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

MacDonald fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ohta sprawls well initially but MacDonald persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
MacDonald trying to mount his opponent but Ohta defends it.
Ohta knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MacDonald on the ground.
MacDonald throwing shots but Ohta is blocking nicely.

Ohta tries to roll over but MacDonald keeps him under control.
MacDonald winds up and cracks Ohta with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

MacDonald landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
MacDonald is thwarting Ohta's attempts to control the position.
MacDonald working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ohta is looking to control MacDonald's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ohta avoid being mounted?
MacDonald slips a nice elbow through Ohta's hands, connecting with Ohta's forehead.
Ohta might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

MacDonald landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
MacDonald has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
MacDonald perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Let's hope that MacDonald has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

MacDonald is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ohta has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ohta has a hand on MacDonald's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. MacDonald takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

MacDonald is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Ohta can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Ohta tries to clinch up

and MacDonald counters with a shoot takedown. Ohta fights it but they end up in guard.

Ohta isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. MacDonald stacks Ohta on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by MacDonald!
MacDonald remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Ohta is looking to reverse the position.

MacDonald tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no MacDonald has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

MacDonald lands a nice forearm strike.

MacDonald's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ohta under the eye.

Ohta rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and MacDonald counters with a lovely shot to the body.
MacDonald scoring well with a low kick there.
MacDonald displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


Ohta is rocked!
Ohta takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Oh Ohta is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ohta shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and MacDonald cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ohta throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and MacDonald counters with a lovely straight right hand!
MacDonald is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

MacDonald shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
MacDonald slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
MacDonald is chipping away with strikes.
MacDonald has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

MacDonald has control of Ohta's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ohta regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Ohta wants to control but MacDonald is having none of it.
MacDonald has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ohta's face.

MacDonald lands a really nice looking cross but Ohta seems unphased.

MacDonald bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ohta's head.

and MacDonald counters with a crisp right that sends Ohta to the canvas! MacDonald follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
