Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is What's the difference. Coleman has chosen Got Money as his entrance music. Rip James could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mark Coleman's chin.

With a record of 21 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James slips under a jab.

Coleman got a little sloppy there for a moment and James has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coleman has managed to get both his arms back between James's legs - danger averted.

and Coleman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Coleman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Coleman throws a body punch but James moves out of range.
James connects with a right hand. Coleman shakes it off.

Coleman looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.

and Coleman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in James's guard.

James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coleman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coleman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Coleman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
James is staying active underneath Coleman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Coleman is nestled in close to James, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Coleman connects with a nice short shot to James's temple.

Coleman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks James with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Coleman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Coleman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Coleman moves forwards but James connects with a nice, crisp jab.
James dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
James is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Coleman. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Coleman closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. James quickly recovers to half guard.

James wants to get back to his feet.
James tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Coleman has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
James is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mark Coleman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Coleman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
