The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stakoski avoids a kick to the body.
Stakoski scores with a jab. Gatho acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Stakoski throws a hook to the side of Gatho's head but Gatho sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gatho wants to clinch up but Stakoski keeps it at a distance.
Gatho drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Gatho scores with the left hand. Stakoski knows he should have avoided that one.

It looks like Patrick Stakoski has been cut.
Ben Gatho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gatho throws a sloppy head kick and Stakoski moves out of range easily.

and Gatho counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Stakoski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gatho gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gatho is pushing down on Stakoski's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stakoski is fighting to maintain full guard but Gatho has managed to sneak the leg through.

Stakoski is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gatho scores with a couple of nice shots.

Stakoski can't keep his opponent in guard - Gatho advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gatho looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Gatho is working for a kimura but Stakoski is defending it quite comfortably.

Stakoski has momentary wrist control but Gatho slips an elbow through the middle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gatho sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stakoski's guard.
Gatho wants to pass to mount but Stakoski is defending the position.

Gatho lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Stakoski trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Gatho manages to pass to mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gatho sends Stakoski crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Gatho is motioning to the referee to let Stakoski up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oh Stakoski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gatho throws a quick inside leg kick.
Stakoski seems to have got his legs back now.
Ben Gatho seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gatho walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Stakoski checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Gatho throws a head kick but Stakoski moves out of range.

Gatho digs a good body shot into Stakoski's ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gatho throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gatho.

Gatho throws out a loose jab but Stakoski uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gatho misses with a head kick.
Gatho tries to close the distance and clinch but Stakoski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gatho lands a leg kick that knocks Stakoski off balance momentarily.
Gatho fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Stakoski.
Stakoski bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Patrick Stakoski's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Gatho lands a big right hand that sends Stakoski crashing to the mat! Gatho stays standing though and waves Stakoski back to his feet!

Jeez, Patrick Stakoski's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Gatho dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Stakoski has had enough and taps out.
