PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ivgeny Chumakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Runfor Cover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chumakov comes to the cage accompanied by Little Wing - SRV. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Runfor Cover!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Cover does no damage.
Chumakov looks to land a left hand but Cover moved out of range nicely.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Chumakov goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cover has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Chumakov but great work by Cover.

Chumakov has his foot on Cover's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cover works his way back into a safe position though.

Chumakov has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cover is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Chumakov.

Cover really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chumakov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cover can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cover is on top in guard.

Chumakov scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cover doesn't seem bothered though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ivgeny Chumakov.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chumakov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
