Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Russ Rutger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Knighton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rutger comes into the arena with Oh...Canada by Classified blaring out of the sound system. Knighton comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Move by Thousand Foot Krutch kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutger smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Rutger lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Knighton backs up against the cage.

Rutger throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Knighton was covering up waiting for the punch and Rutger finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rutger tries to free his leg and advance position but Knighton is retaining full guard.

Rutger drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rutger drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rutger jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rutger winds up and cracks Knighton with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

It looks like Danny Knighton has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rutger breaks from Knighton's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Danny Knighton's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Danny Knighton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rutger scores with a crisp jab that stopped Knighton in his tracks.

Rutger feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
