PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George Forester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez has chosen Naughty by Nature - O.P.P. as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, George Forester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 2, fighting out of London, Carlos Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Forester pushes Sanchez up against the cage in a clinch.

Sanchez jumps guard and drags Forester to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Forester trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Sanchez looking for a guillotine here but Forester defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Forester trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom.
Forester wants to stand and escape but instead Sanchez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Sanchez working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Forester is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Sanchez is controlling him.
Sanchez chips away with some ground and pound.

Forester isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sanchez stacks Forester on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sanchez!
Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Forester keeps working.

Sanchez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Forester tries to improve position but can't.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Forester manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Sanchez won't allow Forester to pass to mount.

Forester is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Forester stalling away here and it's allowed Sanchez to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Forester wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.
Forester is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Sanchez keeping moving, preventing Forester from controlling successfully.

Sanchez controls Forester momentarily but Forester frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up because George Forester just wasn't active enough.

Sanchez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Forester is trying to control Sanchez's posture but Sanchez avoids it.

Forester sneaks out the side door and pushes Sanchez away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Forester clinches with his opponent.

Forester breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Forester scores with a kick to the body.
A shot to the liver by Forester. Beautiful body shot.
Forester throws a nice looking combination but Sanchez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Danga de danga de dang - Forester scores with a four punch combination!

Forester throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sanchez was covering up waiting for the punch and Forester finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Forester wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.
Forester is pushing down on Sanchez's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sanchez is fighting to maintain full guard but Forester has managed to sneak the leg through.

Forester is working for a kimura but Sanchez is defending it quite comfortably.
Forester is taking a breather. Sanchez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Forester's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Forester looks to land a combination but Sanchez avoids it well.
Sanchez slaps away a takedown attempt from Forester, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Forester looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Forester will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Forester is trying to control. Sanchez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Forester is working for a guillotine from mount but Sanchez frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Forester fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sanchez sprawls well initially but Forester persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Forester passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sanchez!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez is trying desperately to improve position.

Forester wants to control the pace but Sanchez is squirming around nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
