PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nigel The Malkind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Sander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Malkind kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Reckoner. Nigel The Malkind has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Nigel The Malkind!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Sander!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sander slips a jab and a cross from The Malkind.
Sander works The Malkind's body with a nice hook.
The Malkind slips under a jab from Sander.
Sander throws a looping overhand right but The Malkind ducks down to avoid it.
The Malkind avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The Malkind misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sander stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sander wants it to stay on the feet.
Nice sprawl there from Sander as The Malkind shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nigel The Malkind. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A big right from The Malkind misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The Malkind moves out of range of the strikes.
Sander takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Tommy Sander has been cut.
Sander throws a lazy uppercut
and The Malkind counters with a low kick, right behind Sander 's knee.
Sander lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sander's corner calls for a 1-2. Sander obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
The Malkind misses with a straight left.
The Malkind gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sander cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sander swings for the body but The Malkind moves out of range.
Sander tries to bum rush The Malkind with a series of wild strikes but The Malkind uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sander throws an overhand right that lands on The Malkind's shoulder, as The Malkind tries to avoid the shot.
The Malkind smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Sander dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sander throws a right hand that The Malkind ducks under and follows up with a left that The Malkind also avoids with ease.

The Malkind shoots in and bounces Sander off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sander preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sander pulls The Malkind in to control the position.
Sander keeping moving, preventing The Malkind from controlling successfully.
The Malkind cracks Sander with a solid left hand.
The Malkind throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sander works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The Malkind thows a big elbow that misses.
The Malkind missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The Malkind stands up from Sander's guard - The Malkind perhaps looking for a knockout.
Sander scores with a nice right hand.
Sander waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract The Malkind.
The Malkind doesn't manage to clinch there - Sander circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The Malkind shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nigel The Malkind will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Tommy Sander's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sander misses with an uppercut. The Malkind saw that one coming.
The Malkind rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sander counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
The Malkind wants to clinch.
The Malkind bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Sander connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A swing and a miss from Sander.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sander tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but The Malkind was well out of range. Poor timing from Sander.
The Malkind bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sander connects with a jab.
The Malkind looking to land some kicks to the body here.
The Malkind lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
The Malkind scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Sander might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Sander misses with a hook.
The Malkind scores with a push kick.
Sander is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The Malkind shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The Malkind trying to control but Sander is working from the bottom.
The Malkind throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sander works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Malkind pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sander is keeping the position for now.
The Malkind postures up in Sander's guard and throws a big left but Sander blocks it.
Sander preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Malkind drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. The Malkind seems to have locked his on tight now - Sander screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for The Malkind, as he picks up the win!
