Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jean Sebastien Blais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Curtis Sharp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blais comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - One. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jean Sebastien Blais!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Curtis Sharp!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blais tries to clinch
and Sharp counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Blais closes the distance but Sharp moves to the side
and Sharp connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Blais darts in trying to clinch
and Sharp counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sharp is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Blais with a poor takedown
and Sharp counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Blais enables Sharp to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Blais manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Blais might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sharp throwing strikes but missing.
Sharp is looking to work some ground and pound but Blais has wrist control.
Sharp working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Sharp decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Blais tries to clinch but Sharp moves away

and Sharp decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Blais's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blais working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sharp.

Blais is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sharp defends well.
Sharp throws and elbow that misses. Blais uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sharp's guard. Nice move by Blais!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sharp can do anything to dispel that myth.

Blais drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sharp manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Blais has Sharp in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Blais can't keep his opponent in guard - Sharp advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Blais blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sharp.
Sharp really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blais. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sharp looks to land a strike but Blais avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Blais controls Sharp momentarily but Sharp frees himself.

Blais had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sharp defends it easily.

Sharp working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sharp is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Blais is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Blais has escaped and now he's on top!

Blais is really struggling to control Sharp but he's trying to hold on to the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Blais is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sharp is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Blais looking to sit in guard and control but Sharp gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sharp throws and elbow that misses. Blais uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sharp's guard. Nice move by Blais!
Blais sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sharp's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sharp is looking to control Blais's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sharp avoid being mounted?
Blais throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Sharp dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sharp misses with a series of wild punches.
Blais tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Sharp counters with a left to the body.

and Sharp counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Blais darts in trying to clinch
and Sharp counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sharp loads up on a big right hand but Blais slips the punch.
Blais closes the distance looking to clinch
and Sharp counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The fight stays on the outside here - Blais looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sharp jabs Blais right on the nose. Blais blinks but takes it well.
Jean Sebastien Blais seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blais tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Sharp counters with a series of strikes. Blais will be more careful next time no doubt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sharp looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Jean Sebastien Blais is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Blais misses with a takedown attempt
and Sharp scores with a counter punch that sends Blais to the canvas! Sharp smells blood - he's punishing Blais with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Blais has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Curtis Sharp!
