The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamaguchi throws a front kick that sends Karl stumbling back into the cage.
Yamaguchi scores with a spinning back kick!
Karl moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

It looks like John Karl has been cut.
Yamaguchi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yamaguchi connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Yamaguchi throws out a powerful jab.

Karl is breathing heavily.
Yamaguchi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Yamaguchi uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Karl has time to react.
Karl throws an off balance right hand
and Yamaguchi counters with a right hand to the body.
Yamaguchi moves out of range of the body kick from Karl.
Karl sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Yamaguchi lands with an overhand left.
Karl avoids the head kick by Yamaguchi.
Yamaguchi lands with a slapping head kick.

John Karl's cut is getting worse.

Yamaguchi moves into the clinch.
Yamaguchi lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Karl is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Karl is pressed against the cage. Yamaguchi pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Karl! Two more big strikes from Yamaguchi and Karl crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
