PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Herrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Wolfen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Herrera comes to the cage accompanied by Don Omar - Bandolero. Frank Wolfen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herrera fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wolfen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Herrera moves in looking to clinch but Wolfen pushes him off.
Herrera dodges the punch combination from Wolfen.
Wolfen slips a jab and a cross from Herrera.
Herrera tries to clinch there but Wolfen circles away.
A slapping body kick lands there for Wolfen.

Wolfen clinches with his opponent.

Wolfen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wolfen connects with a solid leg kick.
Herrera is breathing heavily.

Wolfen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Herrera to the mat! Herrera manages to get full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wolfen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Frank Wolfen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Wolfen lands a nice shot to the body.
Frank Wolfen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wolfen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Herrera's calf.

Wolfen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Herrera to the mat! Herrera manages to get full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Herrera wants to get back to his feet but Wolfen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Wolfen slips nicely into half guard.
Wolfen thows a huge punch but Herrera dodges it nicely.

Wolfen rushes Herrera and presses him up against the cage.

Wolfen lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Herrera backwards.
Wolfen lands a hook to the side of the head.
Wolfen scores with a shoulder strike.
Wolfen lands with a light punch inside.
Wolfen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Herreras head.

Wolfen breaks from the clinch.
Wolfen cracks the inside of Herrera's front leg.

Wolfen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Herrera looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Wolfen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Herrera to his feet.

Wolfen closes the distance and clinches.

Wolfen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A jab lands there for Wolfen.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Herrera walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Left hook, right uppercut from Wolfen.

Herrera is rocked!
Wolfen lands with a big right hook that stumbles Herrera - he's out on his feet here! Wolfen follows up with another monster hook that separates Herrera from consciousness! Herrera falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Wolfen stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
