PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Kudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kudo comes to the cage accompanied by the game by Motorhead. Chad Silver is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Kudo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Silver!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver throws a right and a left that both miss.
Silver misses with a few strikes there.
Silver tries to clinch but Kudo moves away

and Kudo counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kudo controlling the action here.
Kudo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Silver with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kudo landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Kudo wants to take a breather but Silver is having none of it.
Silver regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kudo.

Kudo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kudo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kudo is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Silver asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Kudo is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Silver tries a low kick but Kudo avoids it.
Silver misses with a series of wild punches.

and Kudo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Silver is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Silver is trying to control. Kudo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Kudo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kudo tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Let's hope that Silver has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kudo thows a huge punch but Silver dodges it nicely.

Kudo slips a jab and a cross from Silver.
Silver defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kudo.
Silver throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kudo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Silver.
Kudo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Silver sprawls well. Silver wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kudo gets slowly back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kudo enables Silver to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kudo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Silver won't allow Kudo to get back to his feet.

Kudo is thwarting Silver's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kudo with the ground and pound but Silver uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Kudo is looking to advance position but Silver has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Silver is trying to stick to Kudo's back but Kudo is turning into Silver. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Silver's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kudo.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dan Kudo.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kudo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
