The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velnart misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Victorio.

and Victorio counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Velnart is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Victorio throws out a loose jab but Velnart uses good head movement to avoid it.

Victorio moves into range and clinches up with Velnart.
Victorio wants to break free but Velnart has control.
Velnart misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Victorio tries to break the clinch but Velnart is controlling the position.
Victorio lands a nice shot to the body.
Victorio is looking to break free of the clinch but Velnart has double underhooks.

Victorio's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Victorio shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Jonny Victorio has been cut.
Velnart swings for the body but Victorio moves out of range.

Velnart rushes Victorio and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Velnart struggles to land a body shot inside as Victorio controls his hands.
Velnart tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Victorio tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Victorio can't break the clinch.
Victorio drops down looking for an ankle pick but Velnart pulls his leg out and moves away.
Velnart tries to clinch but Victorio is having none of it.
Velnart is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Victorio.

Victorio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Victorio moves into the clinch.

Velnart breaks the clinch.
Victorio cracks Velnart with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Velnart fails in his attempt to clinch.

and Victorio decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Velnart's guard.

Victorio wants to control from the top but Velnart keeps moving.
Victorio throwing strikes but missing.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velnart can do anything to dispel that myth.
Victorio passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Victorio throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Velnart is looking to reverse the position.
Victorio laying and praying for a moment but Velnart takes advantage and regains half guard.

Victorio with the ground and pound but Velnart uses the opportunity to regain guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Victorio wants to control from the top but Velnart keeps moving.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Velnart darts in trying to clinch
and Victorio counters with a series of strikes. Velnart will be more careful next time no doubt.
Velnart tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Victorio counters with a flying knee that drops Velnart! Victorio dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!
