Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damion Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damion Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Silva!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz digs a good hook to Silva's body.
Diaz digs a good body shot into Silva's ribs.
Diaz misses with a double jab
and Silva counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Damion Diaz has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Diaz throws a lazy right hand but Silva sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Diaz gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Silva.

and Silva counters with a single leg into guard. Diaz didn't expect that.
Diaz wants to stand up but Silva is controlling him.
Diaz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Silva tries to pass to full mount but Diaz defends it.
Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Diaz's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Silva connects with a nice short shot to Diaz's temple.

Diaz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Diaz's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva slips a nice elbow through Diaz's hands, connecting with Diaz's forehead.
Silva thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Silva is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Diaz sees it coming and defends easily.
Diaz wants to get back to his feet.
Diaz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Diaz is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Silva is working for a submission of some sort.
Silva looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Silva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Diaz sees it coming and defends easily.

Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Diaz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working.
Silva has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Silva lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diaz is looking to escape.
Silva with the ground and pound from mount.
Silva lands a big elbow - Diaz is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Diaz is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Daniel Silva!
