PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Snorodecki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Lingad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lingad is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Kinda Like a Big Deal - Clipse Ft. Kanye West. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Snorodecki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Lingad!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lingad takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Snorodecki throws a left and a right that both miss

and Lingad counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Snorodecki tries to kick Lingad off but Lingad keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lingad is taking a breather. Snorodecki says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lingad throwing shots but Snorodecki is blocking nicely.
Lingad not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lingad missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Lingad wants to pass the guard but Snorodecki is defending well.

Lingad not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lingad is controlling the pace.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jon Lingad hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Snorodecki lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Snorodecki misses with a series of wild punches.
Snorodecki misses with a leg kick
and Lingad counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Snorodecki thinking.
Snorodecki lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lingad circles away quickly and effectively.
Snorodecki chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lingad can pounce on him.
Lingad fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Lingad connects with a body shot.
Snorodecki throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Lingad counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Snorodecki's guard now.

Lingad passes into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lingad in particular looking to stall.

Snorodecki kicks off Lingad and gets to his feet.
Snorodecki swats away the attempt to clinch by Lingad.
Snorodecki falls off balance throwing a combination
and Lingad counters with a body kick that stops Snorodecki in his tracks momentarily.
Horrible takedown by Lingad or perhaps it was just good defense by Snorodecki which made him look bad.

and Lingad counters with a nice body kick.
Lingad feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Snorodecki's calf.

Lingad scores with a sloppy right hand. Snorodecki should have avoided that one.
Snorodecki moves out of range of the body kick from Lingad.
Lingad takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Snorodecki throws a series of strikes that have Lingad backpedaling.
Lingad dips to his left and cracks Snorodecki with an uppercut!
Nice uppercut lands for Lingad. That snapped Snorodecki's head back.
Snorodecki thows a leg kick but Lingad checks it
and Lingad counters with a good, hard body kick but Snorodecki shrugs it off.
A slapping leg kick lands for Lingad.
Snorodecki throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lingad counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Snorodecki missing with a left hand there. Lingad was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lingad turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Lingad dominated that round.

Snorodecki throws a poor cross that misses
and Lingad counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Snorodecki throws a lazy head kick
and Lingad makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Snorodecki on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Lingad. Lingad obviously looking to wear him down.

so Lingad counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lingad is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Lingad trying to control the position from guard on top but Snorodecki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lingad controls from within his opponent's guard.

Jon Lingad has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lingad takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Snorodecki misses with a hook
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Lingad takes a swing at Snorodecki's ribcage but misses.
Snorodecki uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lingad.
Snorodecki throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lingad counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A nice combination there by Snorodecki.

Lingad closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Snorodecki throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Snorodecki takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Lingad fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Snorodecki looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Snorodecki misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lingad closes the distance and clinches up with Snorodecki, looking for a takedown. Lingad pushes Snorodecki against the cage but Snorodecki circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Snorodecki misses with the body kick
and Lingad counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Snorodecki thinking.
Lingad takes a swing at Snorodecki's ribcage but misses.
Snorodecki tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Lingad moves away from the strike by Snorodecki.
Snorodecki misses with a hook
and Lingad counters with an outside leg kick.
Snorodecki is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Lingad checks the leg kick nicely there.

and Lingad makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Lingad chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Snorodecki can pounce on him.

and Lingad counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Snorodecki is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lingad keeps control of Snorodecki as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Snorodecki is looking to break free of the clinch but Lingad has double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Lingad showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Lingad looks to throw a body kick
and Snorodecki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lingad scores with a shot to the body.
Lingad misses the shot to the body.
Snorodecki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Chris Snorodecki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lingad will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Lingad fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Lingad wants to slow Snorodecki down by chopping away at his legs.
Jon Lingad seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Snorodecki shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Snorodecki is not content to let Lingad control the position.
Lingad tries to pass the half guard into mount. Snorodecki knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Snorodecki is refusing to be controlled, as Lingad sits in half guard.
Lingad is taking a breather. Snorodecki says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snorodecki wants to get back to his feet.

Lingad is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Snorodecki defends it well.
Jon Lingad has got the better of the ground game so far.
Snorodecki pushes Lingad off looking to stand but Lingad dives back in and keeps control.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Snorodecki can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lingad controls the pace.
Lingad advances position into side control!
Chris Snorodecki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lingad scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Snorodecki to see if he's OK.
Snorodecki takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Lingad tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jon Lingad is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Snorodecki is trying to buck Lingad off.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Lingad wants to lay and pray for a moment but Snorodecki keeps working.
Lingad remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jon Lingad comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lingad has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
