PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Justin Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Chavo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell comes to the cage accompanied by Vicarious - Tool. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Mitchell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eddie Chavo!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chavo shoots in and gets a takedown into Mitchell's guard.
Mitchell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chavo is one step ahead there.
Chavo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mitchell's head.
Mitchell manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Mitchell is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Chavo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mitchell working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Chavo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mitchell wants to control the pace but Chavo is squirming around nicely.
Mitchell controlling from mount.
Chavo wants to hold on but Mitchell pushes him away.
Mitchell is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Chavo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mitchell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Mitchell looking for a guillotine from mount but Chavo is having none of it.

Mitchell working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Chavo is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Mitchell lands a heavy elbow.

Mitchell gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mitchell.
Chavo wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Mitchell is breathing heavily.

Mitchell has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Chavo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mitchell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chavo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mitchell manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Mitchell thows a huge punch but Chavo dodges it nicely.
Mitchell passes the guard and advances to mount!
Chavo tries to lock up and control but Mitchell gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mitchell looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Chavo tries to hold on but Mitchell postures up.
Mitchell throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chavo really wants to buck Mitchell off and get back to his feet.

Mitchell is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Chavo has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Chavo wants to hold on but Mitchell pushes him away.
BOOM! Mitchell connects with a massive shot to the dome!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chavo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chavo is desperately trying to improve his position but Mitchell has a good base and remains in mount.
Mitchell trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mitchell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mitchell is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Chavo to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Chavo shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Mitchell dominated that round.

Mitchell has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Mitchell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Chavo counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Mitchell cracks Chavo with a nice body shot.
Chavo throws a knee to the head but misses.
Chavo prevents a body shot from Mitchell.
Mitchell tries for a takedown. No joy.

Chavo gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Chavo drops an elbow to the side of Mitchell's head.
Mitchell slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Mitchell keeping moving, preventing Chavo from controlling successfully.
Mitchell wants to get back to his feet but Chavo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Chavo wants to pass the guard but Mitchell is keeping the position.
Mitchell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chavo is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chavo postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Chavo slips nicely into half guard.
Mitchell tries to roll over but Chavo keeps him under control.
Chavo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mitchell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Mitchell wants to get back to full guard.
Chavo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mitchell keeps working.
Mitchell gets full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mitchell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Chavo's guard.
Chavo wants to stand up but Mitchell is controlling him.
Chavo keeping moving, preventing Mitchell from controlling successfully.

Mitchell drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Mitchell as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Chavo screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Mitchell! Nice submission victory there!
