Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Elkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Fredericks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elkins comes into the arena with Care Bear Countdown blaring out of the sound system. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Elkins is defended easily by Fredericks.
Fredericks throws a wild body kick that Elkins sees coming a mile off.

Elkins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fredericks tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Elkins is in Fredericks's guard.

Elkins trying to control but Fredericks is working from the bottom.
Elkins works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Elkins winds up and cracks Fredericks with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fredericks tries to lock up and control but Elkins gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Fredericks wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Elkins.
Elkins is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Fredericks can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Fredericks takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Joe Fredericks has been cut.
Elkins loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Fredericks scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Elkins land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Elkins stands and salutes the crowd.
