PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Meat Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Bernie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machine comes into the arena with BURZUM - WAR blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Meat Machine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bryan Bernie!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machine misses with a straight left.
Bernie slips under a jab from Machine.
Machine takes a swing at Bernie's ribcage but misses.
Bernie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Machine throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Bernie counters by moving into the clinch.
Machine has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Bernie just leaning against Machine, taking a breather.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Machine breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bernie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Machine was well out of range. Poor timing from Bernie.
Machine avoids the body shot from Bernie.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Machine throws a right and a left that Bernie avoids nicely.
Machine works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Bernie throws a leg kick but Machine checks it.

Bernie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bernie keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Machine's head.
Bernie tries to free his leg and advance position but Machine is retaining full guard.
Machine trying to keep a closed guard but Bernie is proving a slippery customer.
Bernie wants to pass the guard but Machine is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bernie is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Bernie passes into half guard.
Bernie thows a huge punch but Machine dodges it nicely.

Bernie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bernie with the ground and pound but Machine uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Bernie tries to free his leg and advance position but Machine is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machine tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bernie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Machine is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bernie, into his guard.
Machine trying to control the position from guard on top but Bernie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bernie looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Machine puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Machine prevents Bernie from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bernie gets full guard.
Bernie wants to sweep here but Machine controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bernie wants to improve his position but instead Machine has moved into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Bernie dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Bernie takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Bernie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Machine throws out the jab.
Machine thows a left - swing and a miss!
Machine thows a body shot but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Machine misses with a hook.
Machine ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A combination from Machine does no damage.
Bernie fails with a takedown attempt.
Meat Machine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good work by Bernie as he checks the leg kick.
Machine misses with a shot to the body

so Bernie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Machine looking for a sweep. Not yet Machine, not yet.
Bernie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Machine swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Machine looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Machine is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bernie trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bernie slips nicely into half guard.
Machine is trying to stand.
Bernie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Machine knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Machine is controlling Bernie's trapped leg to prevent Bernie from advancing to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bernie works his way into full mount!

Bernie goes for an armbar but Machine turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Machine.
Bernie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bernie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Machine's guard.
Bernie throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Bernie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Machine swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryan Bernie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Bernie closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Machine pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Machine swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bernie.
Bernie looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Bernie misses with a hook to the body
and Machine counters with a left to the body.
Machine misses with a looping left.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bernie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Machine tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bernie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bernie tries to advance to mount but can't.
Machine manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bernie's best efforts.
Machine is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bernie trying to control from Machine's half guard. Machine has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Meat Machine has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bryan Bernie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Machine looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Machine trying to control the position here.
Machine is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bernie wants to control from the top but Machine keeps moving.
Bernie controlling from the top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bryan Bernie.
Machine throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bernie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Machine displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bernie.
Machine thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Machine ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Meat Machine is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Machine will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bernie avoids the body shot from Machine.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Machine lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bernie at a distance.

And that's the end of the fight!
Meat Machine showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bernie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
