PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nyquil Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Burgess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Salazar might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Enter Sandman. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgess throws a leg kick
and Salazar counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Burgess is lucky that one didn't land flush.
No joy there for Burgess, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Burgess throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Burgess looks to land a right hand but Salazar moved out of range.
Burgess steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Salazar.
Burgess jabs Salazar to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Salazar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Burgess.
Burgess throws a lazy right hand but Salazar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

and Salazar finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Salazar takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

and Salazar counters with a big head kick but Burgess shrugs it off.
Burgess has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

and Salazar makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Burgess throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Salazar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Burgess throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Salazar on the side of the head.

and Burgess makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Burgess rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Salazar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Salazar has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Burgess.

and Burgess counters with a stiff right hand.
Salazar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Burgess swings widly with a right hand

Burgess tries to circle away but Salazar has him pinned against the ropes.

Burgess digs a right hand into Salazar's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Salazar's gas tank.
Salazar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Burgess walks away with a smile on his face. Salazar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Burgess counters with a low kick, right behind Salazar 's knee.

and Burgess counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Salazar looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Burgess lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Burgess lands an uppercut.
Salazar is trying to stall.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Burgess lands with an uppercut that bounces Salazar off the ropes and back into rage.

Anthony Burgess showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
