PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeppe Turska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Sagat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turska kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Last of the Mohicans Theme. Bob Sagat acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Sagat!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turska with a lazy takedown attempt
and Sagat counters with a three punch combo that has Turska backing up. Turska nods at Sagat to acknowledge the strikes.

and Sagat counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Turska fails with the takedown
and Sagat counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeppe Turska. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sagat falls off balance throwing a combination

and Turska counters with a takedown into side control.

Turska is trying to get an arm triangle but Sagat is defending well.
Sagat wants to control but Turska postures up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Turska wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sagat, who protects the arm well.
Sagat manages to work his way to half guard, despite Turska's best efforts.
Sagat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Turska wants to work for an arm triangle but Sagat is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Sagat is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Turska's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Turska's back!
What can Turska do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Sagat. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Sagat controlling the position well here. Turska rolled but Sagat kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Sagat doesn't have the hooks in and Turska manages to turn into his guard.

and Sagat counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

and Sagat counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Sagat lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Turska at a distance.
Turska moves out of range as Sagat strikes.
Turska misses with a takedown
and Sagat counters with a straight right hand.
Turska gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sagat counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nice shot lands for Sagat.
Sagat throws a nice looking combination but Turska bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Turska takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Sagat scores with a jab to the jaw.
Turska avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Turska doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Sagat swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bob Sagat will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sagat misses with a hook.
Sagat throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Turska misses with a takedown attempt
and Sagat counters with a stiff right hand.

Turska gets caught flat footed, as Sagat shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sagat throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Turska works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Turska working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sagat doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sagat manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Turska looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sagat is one step ahead there.

Turska avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sagat stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Turska swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Turska is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sagat slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sagat stands up over Turska, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Sagat wants to control from the top but Turska keeps moving.

Turska looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sagat slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Turska utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sagat trying to control the position from guard on top but Turska is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Turska throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sagat escapes and throws Turska's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Turska takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Sagat is working Turska over with some ground and pound from side control.
Turska is looking to regain half guard here but Sagat keeps moving and retains side control.
Sagat misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Turska is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Sagat's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Turska slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Turska is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sagat's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Sagat must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Turska looking for a triangle here. Sagat is fighting it but it looks tight! Turska pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Sagat is tapping out - this one is all over!
