PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rakkiat Nongkeeswuit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Whissell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whissell is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rose Of Sharon. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whissell misses with a left hand
and Nongkeeswuit counters with a three punch combo that has Whissell backing up. Whissell nods at Nongkeeswuit to acknowledge the strikes.

Nongkeeswuit looks to score with a jab to the body but Whissell is just out of range.
Nongkeeswuit slips a straight right by Whissell.
Whissell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nongkeeswuit pinned against the cage. Nongkeeswuit gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nongkeeswuit throws a right and a left that Whissell avoids nicely.
Whissell looks to land a right hand but Nongkeeswuit moved out of range.

Nongkeeswuit swings away with a body shot that misses

and Whissell counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Whissell is keen to just control but Nongkeeswuit is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nongkeeswuit is trying is best to control the position here.
Nongkeeswuit keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whissell sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nongkeeswuit defending well though.

Nongkeeswuit can't keep his opponent in guard - Whissell advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Nongkeeswuit wants to improve his position but Whissell is controlling well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Whissell lands a nice short elbow.
Whissell lands with a punch from half guard.

Whissell wants to work for an arm triangle but Nongkeeswuit is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Whissell thows a huge punch but Nongkeeswuit dodges it nicely.

Whissell is looking for a kimura here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but George Whissell will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A decent looking body kick lands there for Nongkeeswuit.
Whissell lands a slapping body shot.
Nongkeeswuit lands a two punch combo.
Whissell jabs Nongkeeswuit right on the nose. Nongkeeswuit blinks but takes it well.
Whissell takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Whissell tries to work over Nongkeeswuit's front leg with a kick but Nongkeeswuit checks it.
Rakkiat Nongkeeswuit is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nongkeeswuit just misses with a punch to the body.
Nongkeeswuit moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Whissell is rocked!
Whissell throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Nongkeeswuit scores with a counter punch that sends Whissell to the canvas! Nongkeeswuit smells blood - he's punishing Whissell with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Whissell has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
