Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kung Lao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pasha Dasari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lao comes into the arena with Mortal Kombat-Techno Kombat blaring out of the sound system. Dasari is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Stinkfist. Pasha Dasari has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kung Lao's chin.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Dasari explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Dasari.

Lao shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dasari wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Dasari rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Lao seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dasari for as long as he can get away with.

Lao thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Dasari moves in looking to clinch but Lao pushes him off.
Dasari throws a nice inside leg kick.
Dasari moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Lao crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dasari - the referee stops the clock and Lao gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dasari. Lao manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Dasari throws a wild body kick that Lao sees coming a mile off.
Lao shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kung Lao. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dasari throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

and Lao counters with a shoot takedown. Dasari fights it but they end up in guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lao throws out a loose jab but Dasari uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lao throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dasari's waist but Dasari gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lao off to one side.

Lao tries a head kick but it misses.
Lao walks forward, straight into a front kick from Dasari.

and Lao counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Dasari controls Lao momentarily but Lao frees himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lao bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dasari's guard.

Dasari has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lao is working away from the top position though.

Lao is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dasari defends it well.

Dasari is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Lao with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Dasari drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lao looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lao looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lao!

Lao tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lao has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Lao is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Dasari defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Pasha Dasari has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lao has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dasari has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
I really don't envy Dasari right now.
Lao tries to keep control of the position but Dasari is staying busy.
