PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Petrenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jonathan Paton and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrenko throws a leg kick but Gracie moved away.
Damien Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Petrenko's waist but Petrenko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
Gracie tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Petrenko counters with an inside leg kick.
Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Petrenko, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Petrenko against the cage but Petrenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Petrenko feints and then cracks Gracie's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gracie down.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Petrenko manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Petrenko walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gracie checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Petrenko lands a big head kick that sends Gracie tumbling to the mat! Petrenko takes a step backwards and waves Gracie back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Gracie is trying desperately to land a takedown but Petrenko is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Gracie.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Gracie might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Petrenko has got the better of the exchanges.
