PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tidal Wave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Can't be Touched. Wave is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Comfortably Numb Solo. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tidal Wave!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wave has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Quinton Jackson will probably get the nod.

Wave shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Jackson clobbers Wave with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wave is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jackson wants to get up but he can't break Wave's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Wave manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jackson manages to get himself to full guard.

I would just about give that final round to Tidal Wave.
Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
