Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zhang Xianfa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zhang Xianfa could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Mike Mendoza's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xianfa on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Mendoza forces Xianfa back against the cage and clinches.
Mendoza fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Xianfa trying to stall but Mendoza improves his position.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Mendoza.
Xianfa tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Mendoza throws a punch but it's blocked by Xianfa.
Mendoza scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Xianfa tries to work over Mendoza's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Mendoza.
Mendoza misses with some punches.
Xianfa tries a body shot but Mendoza blocks it.
Xianfa struggles to land a body shot inside as Mendoza controls his hands.

Xianfa works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mendoza throws a punch but it's blocked by Xianfa.

Mendoza decides to pull guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Xianfa wants to control from the top but Mendoza keeps moving.
Mendoza is trying to hold Xianfa in close to prevent damage but Xianfa has managed to pass into half guard.

Mendoza tries to get to full guard but Xianfa has control of the leg.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Zhang Xianfa wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A shot to the liver by Xianfa. Beautiful body shot.
Mendoza is looking to chop away at Xianfa's legs.
No joy there for Xianfa, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Xianfa moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Mike Mendoza has been cut.
Mike Mendoza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Xianfa throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mendoza on the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Xianfa throws a right and a left that both miss.
Xianfa avoids the body shot from Mendoza.
Mendoza dodges the punch combination from Xianfa.
Xianfa shoots in but Mendoza avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Xianfa throws a shot to the body.
Mendoza gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Xianfa throws a front kick aimed at Mendoza's knee but Mendoza avoids it well.

Xianfa has Mendoza up against the cage in a clinch.
Xianfa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mendoza is defending well for now.
Xianfa digs a right hand underneath Mendoza's ribcage. Mendoza let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Mendoza pulls guard.
Mendoza keeping moving, preventing Xianfa from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Xianfa is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mendoza is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Xianfa swinging wildly here.
Mendoza on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Xianfa cracks Mendoza on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Mendoza falls backwards against the cage. Xianfa follows up with more strikes that drop Mendoza to his knees. Xianfa keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Mendoza! This one is all over!
