PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Hustlin as his entrance music. Shane Jackson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Williams lands in his opponent's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jackson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Williams is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Williams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Williams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Williams would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Jackson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Williams shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jackson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Williams is fighting to break Jackson's control of his arms but Jackson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Williams is looking to stand up but Jackson won't let him.

Williams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Williams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackson is on top in guard.

Williams controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.

Jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Williams can't do much from the bottom here.
Williams takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Williams shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Williams wants to take a breather but Jackson is having none of it.
Williams prevents Jackson from improving his position.
Jackson is looking to escape.
Williams is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jackson tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg.
Jackson has his hands clasped together around Williams's back. He's all about the action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alexander Williams wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Williams shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jackson's guard.
Williams is looking to work some ground and pound but Jackson has wrist control.

Williams tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Jackson wants to sweep but no luck.
Williams throws a big right hand that misses.
Jackson scores with a nice shot.

Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jackson is refusing to be controlled, as Williams sits in half guard.
Jackson is trying is best to control the position here.
Jackson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Williams is trying to control the action in half guard but Jackson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Williams's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Jackson tries for a takedown but Williams sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Jackson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Williams is trying to defend but Jackson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Williams is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Williams is wriggling around trying to escape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jackson controlling the pace for now.
Jackson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Williams is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Shane Jackson.

Jackson shoots in and bounces Williams off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Williams is trying to keep Jackson in close.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jackson stops Williams from standing up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Shane Jackson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Jackson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jackson is pulling down on Williams's head to control his posture.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jackson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shane Jackson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
