PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. This Fire Burns kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Harry Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Smith!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cross jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Smith steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cross.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Cross connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cross throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cross sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Well, if Smith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cross tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
Cross is working hard here to advance position.
Smith controlling the pace.
Cross blocking the ground and pound attempt from Smith.
Smith is nestled in close to Cross, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Smith wants to free his trapped foot but Cross is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Still in half guard, Smith seems content to control.
Cross wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cross throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Cross waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Smith.

Smith slips a jab from Cross.
Cross scores with a jab to the jaw.
Harry Cross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice hook.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cross misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith takes one to the side of the head.

Smith is rocked!
