Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aj Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ba Lil I!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lil I misses with a wild combination.
Smith misses with a looping right.
Smith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lil I sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lil I shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smith is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lil I pulls his head out easily.
Lil I working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Smith wants to get back to full guard.
Lil I content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Lil I is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Lil I eventually gives up the hold.
Smith actively working from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Lil I is controlling the pace.
Lil I wants to free his trapped foot but Smith is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lil I uses his free foot to push down on Smith's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Smith.
Smith regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lil I lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Lil I is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Smith is looking for a sweep. Lil I is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Smith looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Smith looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lil I takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lil I looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Smith with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Smith is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lil I with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Oh Smith is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lil I is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Lil I is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Smith!
Smith tries to reverse the position but Lil I maintains control.
Lil I lands a big elbow.
Lil I with the ground and pound from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lil I postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Smith in real trouble here! The ref calls for Smith to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ba Lil I!
