Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Mishima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taz Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mishima comes to the ring accompanied by Super Troopers German Techno. Rutten is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: IF I DIE TONIGHT. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mishima avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Taz Rutten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slow jab from Rutten misses its intended target.

Mishima has his foot on Rutten's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rutten works his way back into a safe position though.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rutten lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mishima has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mishima and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mishima crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Rutten - the referee stops the clock and Mishima gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Rutten. Mishima manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Rutten stalks Mishima and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mishima's face. Mishima staggers backwards, shaken.

Rutten's jab looks to have found its range, popping Mishima under the eye.

Mishima shoots in looking for a takedown. Rutten tries to sprawl out of it but Mishima keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Rutten manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rutten lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rutten throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mishima on the side of the head.

Rutten connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Mishima covering up! Rutten comes in with a big uppercut and Mishima goes doooown! He's slumped up against the ropes, eyes staring blankly into space.
