PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roy D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taz Devil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). D comes to the cage accompanied by do it. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Taz Devil!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Devil fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
D throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Devil sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Good standup being displayed there by D as he connects with a hook.
Devil explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
D moves out of range as Devil throws a body kick.
D swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Devil lands with a cross.
Devil throws a hook but D blocks it.
Devil throws a sloppy head kick and D moves out of range easily.
A left lands for Devil.

It looks like Roy D has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from D. Devil does a little dance to reset his feet.
D has a takedown stuffed.
Roy D seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
D missing with a left hand there. Devil was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd cheers as Devil lands an impressive looking overhand right. D doesn't seem phased though.
D slips under a jab.

Devil misses with a body punch
and D connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Devil misses with a looping right.

D scores with a takedown into Devil's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
D stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Devil swivels though and keeps the full guard.
D is working hard here to advance position.
Devil is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst D is controlling him.
Devil wants to sweep here but D controlling him for the moment.
Devil preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

D thows a big elbow that misses.
D trying to control the position from guard on top but Devil is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Devil looking to hit a scissor sweep but D is one step ahead there.
Devil keeping full guard, as D tries to pass.
D trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
D trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
D throws and elbow that misses. Devil uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in D's guard. Nice move by Devil!

D has an active guard here but Devil has managed to pass into half guard.
D is looking for a sweep. Devil is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
D tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Devil has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
D is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
D tries to hold on but Devil pushes him away.

Devil stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
D misses with a left hand
and Devil counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps D thinking.
Devil throws a body punch but D moves out of range.
Devil throws an uppercut from half a mile away. D sees it coming and avoids it easily.
D misses with a wild combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Devil lands with an uppercut that bounces D off the cage and back into rage.
Devil delivers a nice body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taz Devil dominated that round.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

D throws a jab when Devil was well out of range.
D slips a straight right by Devil.
D walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Devil misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from D.
Devil lands with a right hand.
Devil throws a quick head kick that skims the top of D's head.
D tries to bum rush Devil with a series of wild strikes but Devil uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
D throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Devil counters with a nice body shot.
D scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
A punch lands to the side of D 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A looping hook to the body misses from D. Devil does a little dance to reset his feet.
Devil bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Devil throws a body punch but D moves out of range.
Devil looks to throw the jab but D is out of range.
D walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

D is rocked!

Devil throws a big shot that misses.
Devil throws a leg kick which misses D's front leg but catches the back leg as D tries to avoid it.
D misses with a body punch
and Devil counters with a right hand to the body.
Taz Devil seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
D displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Devil throws out the jab.
Taz Devil is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
D takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Oh D is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
D shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Devil as he jumps to the side.
Devil comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Devil cracks D with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! D falls to his knees and Devil doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
