The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scheckler explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Race misses with a takedown attempt
and Scheckler counters with a good low kick that Race was not able to check.
Race gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Scheckler counters with a leg kick.
Scheckler scores with a nice body kick.
Race shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Scheckler makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Race really felt that one!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Race. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Scheckler buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Race tries to move into range but Scheckler moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Scheckler shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Race napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Scheckler has hold of Race's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Race tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Scheckler cranks the arm and Race screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Race, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ted Scheckler was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
