Del Rio comes to the cage accompanied by Requiem for a dream. Mike Pain has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Alberto Del Rio's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Del Rio moves in looking to clinch but Pain pushes him off.

Pain feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Del Rio wants to stand and escape but Pain is having none of it.
Del Rio trying to keep a closed guard but Pain is proving a slippery customer.

Pain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pain throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Del Rio works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Del Rio is looking to stand up but Pain isn't so interested in that idea.

Pain has gone for a leg lock! Del Rio slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pain's guard.

Del Rio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Del Rio has managed to get both his arms back between Pain's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pain lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Del Rio!

It looks like Alberto Del Rio has been cut.
Pain throwing strikes here but Del Rio is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Pain thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Del Rio on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Del Rio tries to get out of the position.
Pain sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Pain is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Del Rio has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Del Rio!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pain is on top in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pain sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Del Rio's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Pain dominated that round.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Pain shoots in but Del Rio avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Del Rio looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Del Rio prevents Pain from improving his position.

Del Rio moves into full mount! Pain won't be happy about that!
Del Rio tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

Pain throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Pain wants to improve his position but Del Rio is controlling well.
Del Rio tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Pain is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Del Rio's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Del Rio's back!
Del Rio is trying to get back to his feet but Pain has full control of the position and if anything, Del Rio has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Even with his hooks in, Pain manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Del Rio holding both Pain 's hands and preventing any damage.

Del Rio is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pain working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Del Rio tries to break free.

Pain looking to break Del Rio's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Del Rio remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Pain will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pain is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Del Rio is tapping out! This one is all over!
