Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Pembelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Ruent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pembelton kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hail Mary by Tupac. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Pembelton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete Ruent!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Ruent.
Pembelton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pembelton looks to throw the jab but Ruent is out of range.
Pembelton throws a right hand that Ruent ducks under and follows up with a left that Ruent also avoids with ease.
Ruent fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Pembelton misses the shot to the body.

Ruent has taken the fight to the clinch.
Pembelton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ruent is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A right handed body shot lands from Ruent.
Ruent digs a right hand underneath Pembelton's ribcage. Pembelton let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Ruent lands a body punch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ruent gets underhooks to prevent Pembelton's takedown attempt.

Ruent pushes Pembelton back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ruent struggles to land a body shot inside as Pembelton controls his hands.
Ruent is pushing Pembelton up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Pembelton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ruent uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pembelton.

Pembelton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Pembelton looks to score with a jab to the body but Ruent is just out of range.

Pembelton shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ruent napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Pembelton goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ruent rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pembelton's guard! Nice work there by Ruent!

Ruent controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Pembelton throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ruent escapes and throws Pembelton's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pembelton tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ruent controls the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pembelton manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Pembelton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Ruent dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pembelton uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ruent.

Ruent fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pembelton sprawls well initially but Ruent persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ruent in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruent is looking to advance position but Pembelton won't allow it.

Pembelton tries to get to full guard but Ruent has control of the leg.
Pembelton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruent is working away from the top position though.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pembelton throws a body punch but Ruent moves out of range.

Pembelton gets a double leg takedown into Ruent's guard.

Ruent escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pembelton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ruent lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pembelton!
Pembelton has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Ruent's lack of action.

Ruent perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pete Ruent hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Pembelton looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Pembelton is fighting to break Ruent's control of his arms but Ruent is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

An inside leg kick lands from Ruent.
Pembelton's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ruent connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Pembelton scrambles back to his feet.
A combination from Ruent does no damage.
Horrible takedown by Pembelton or perhaps it was just good defense by Ruent which made him look bad.
Ruent tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ruent throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pembelton.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pembelton doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Pete Ruent is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ruent lands a nice hook to Pembelton's body. Pembelton takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Ruent jabs Pembelton to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Ruent lands a slapping body shot.
Frank Pembelton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ruent thows a body kick. Pembelton tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Ruent throws a shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pete Ruent comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ruent has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
