And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Soni.

Soni clinches.
Severn looking for a takedown.

Soni escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Soni fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Severn has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Severn shoots in for a takedown but Soni shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Soni misses with the combination.
Soni tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Severn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Soni shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Severn napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Severn tries to escape but Soni is in control.
Soni content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Severn is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Soni is controlling him well.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tanishk Soni wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Nice shot lands for Soni.

Soni scoring well with a low kick there.
Soni wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Soni leaves Severn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tanishk Soni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Severn.

Severn steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Soni. That one must have hurt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Soni escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

It looks like Dan Severn has been cut.

Soni darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Soni performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Severn pushes Soni off, looking to escape but Soni dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Severn is forced to tap! The fight is over!
