PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Angel Rivera!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rivera.

Mason has taken the fight to the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Mason.
Rivera gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mason.

Mason is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rivera can't fight it off and eventually Mason manages to take the fight to the floor. Rivera looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mason throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rivera works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mason drops back looking for a leg! Rivera is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rivera manages to kick Mason off! Mason jumps back into Rivera's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mason is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mason throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rivera works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mason prevents Rivera from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mason slips nicely into half guard.

Mason is working for a kimura but Rivera is defending it quite comfortably.
Mason not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Mason seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Rivera is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Marshall Mason!
