Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ippo Makunouchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Huey Winner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Winner has chosen It's time for war as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ippo Makunouchi !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Huey Winner!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makunouchi lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Makunouchi throws a right and a left that both miss.
A combination from Makunouchi does no damage.
Makunouchi throws a right hand that Winner ducks under and follows up with a left that Winner also avoids with ease.
Winner looks to clinch
and Makunouchi counters with a one-two to the body.
Makunouchi misses with a looping right.
Winner takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Sloppy strikes from Makunouchi . Those never looked like landing.
Makunouchi falls off balance throwing a combination
and Winner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Ippo Makunouchi has been cut.

A big right from Makunouchi misses.
A clash of legs there as Makunouchi blocks the low kick.
Makunouchi scores with a decent looking hook.
No joy there for Makunouchi , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Makunouchi thows a body shot but no joy.
Makunouchi throws a looping overhand right but Winner ducks down to avoid it.

and Winner counters with a thumping low kick.

Makunouchi missing with a left hand there. Winner was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Makunouchi tries to land a leg kick but Winner saw it coming and moves away.
Winner is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Makunouchi throws a front kick aimed at Winner's knee but Winner avoids it well.

Makunouchi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Winner.

Winner uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Makunouchi .
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Makunouchi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Makunouchi 's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Makunouchi duly obliges.

and Winner counters with a good, hard body kick but Makunouchi shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Winner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Winner, right into the meat.

Winner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Makunouchi sprawls well. Makunouchi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Winner gets slowly back to his feet.

Makunouchi 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Makunouchi misses with a double jab.
Makunouchi connects with a jab.
Winner fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ippo Makunouchi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Huey Winner.
Winner moves in looking to clinch but Makunouchi pushes him off.

Makunouchi throws a series of punches but Winner moves out of range.
Makunouchi misses with a two punch combination.
No joy there for Makunouchi , who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Makunouchi swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Winner clinches up with Makunouchi and pushes him back against the cage.
Winner misses with a knee to the head.
Makunouchi misses with a hook from the clinch.
Winner lands a knee to the head.
Makunouchi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Winner's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Makunouchi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Makunouchi misses with a few strikes there.
Winner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Makunouchi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Winner is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Winner. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Makunouchi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Winner tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Makunouchi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Makunouchi lands a nice shot that snaps Winner's head back.
Ippo Makunouchi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Makunouchi smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Makunouchi throws a jab when Winner was well out of range.
Huey Winner seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Makunouchi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Winner counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Winner tries to close the distance and clinch but Makunouchi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Makunouchi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Winner was well out of range. Poor timing from Makunouchi .
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Huey Winner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

and Makunouchi counters with a series of strikes. Winner will be more careful next time no doubt.
Winner is looking to clinch but Makunouchi is avoiding it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Winner is trying to control. Makunouchi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Winner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Makunouchi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Makunouchi is in trouble now - Winner has advanced to mount!

Winner is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Makunouchi has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Makunouchi !

Ippo Makunouchi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Makunouchi forces his way into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Winner pushes Makunouchi off looking to stand but Makunouchi dives back in and keeps control.
Winner holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Makunouchi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Winner on the ground.
Makunouchi wants to get back to his feet.

Makunouchi stalling away here and it's allowed Winner to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Winner looking for a triangle here. Makunouchi is fighting it but it looks tight! Winner pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Makunouchi is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Huey Winner!
Huey Winner decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
