Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clay Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amsterdam Vallon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A head kick misses from Vallon.
Vallon throws a sloppy head kick

and Mercer counters by clinching up.
Mercer working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Mercer swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Vallon breaks from the clinch.
Vallon throws a head kick but Mercer moves out of range.
Vallon needs to keep his hands up - Mercer had a free shot at his head there.
Vallon misses with the combination.
Vallon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vallon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jab by Mercer.
Mercer throws a shot from downtown. Vallon moves away and avoids it.
Mercer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Vallon. That did some damage!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vallon tries a head kick but it misses.

Mercer avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Vallon blocks a head kick by Mercer.
Mercer pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Vallon back to the cage. Mercer follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Vallon throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mercer scores with a jab. Vallon acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Mercer scores with a shot to the body.
Vallon closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mercer throws a hook to the side of Vallon's head but Vallon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Vallon staying out of range there.
Vallon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vallon takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Vallon looks gassed!
Vallon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nice straight punches there by Mercer. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mercer.
Mercer lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mercer.
Vallon has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vallon there as he acknowledges the shot.

Vallon takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Vallon drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Mercer scores with a jab to the head.
A big left from Mercer misses.

Vallon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mercer throws a one two combo.
Mercer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vallon.
Mercer looks to throw the jab but Vallon is out of range.

Mercer lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Oooooh!!! Mercer has knocked Vallon down with a huge combo! Mercer steps away and waves a wobbly Vallon back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Vallon is rocked!
Mercer cracks Vallon with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Vallon tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Mercer pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Vallon is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Clay Mercer!
