PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roger Kint (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oliveira has chosen Daddy Yankee - La Gata as his entrance music. Ricardo Oliveira will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Kint!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira tries to clinch there but Kint circles away.
Kint swats away the attempt to clinch by Oliveira.
Oliveira moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Kint fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Oliveira avoids it really well and circles away.
Oliveira lands with a kick to the ribs.
Oliveira stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Oliveira wants it to stay on the feet.

Oliveira rushes Kint and presses him up against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Kint.
A nice left hand lands by Oliveira.
Kint dodges an elbow strike from Oliveira.
Oliveira misses with a short punch on the inside.
Oliveira misses with the head strike.
Oliveira misses with some punches.
Kint tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Oliveira comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Roger Kint has been cut.

Kint tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Oliveira just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Kint. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oliveira manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Oliveira misses with a punch on the inside.
Oliveira lands an elbow that stopped Kint in his tracks for a moment.
Kint's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!


Roger Kint's cut is getting worse.
Oliveira misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kint.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Oliveira.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Oliveira just misses with a elbow thrown towards Kint's brow.

Kint is rocked!

Kint has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Oliveira uses from the top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Oliveira loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Oliveira is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Oliveira won't allow Kint to sweep him here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kint manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Oliveira manages to get himself to full guard.
Kint advances to half guard.
Oliveira wants to improve his position but Kint is controlling well.

Oliveira is trying to control but Kint passes into side control!
Kint gets to mount! Oliveira was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Oliveira sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kint passes to full mount!
Oliveira is desperately trying to improve his position but Kint has a good base and remains in mount.

Kint looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Kint fails to move to back control.

Kint swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Oliveira is now in Kint's guard. A big mistake from Kint there, giving up the dominant position!
Kint is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Oliveira postures up.
Oliveira works over Kint with some ground and pound from guard.
Oliveira won't allow Kint to sweep him here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oliveira has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kint is proving hard to escape from.
Kint is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Oliveira missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Kint is looking for a triangle here but Oliveira uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Oliveira is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kint's shoulder. That is not cool.
Kint is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Oliveira throws a head kick but Kint moves out of range.
Oliveira throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kint sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Oliveira misses with a head kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Oliveira.

Oliveira pushes Kint up against the cage in a clinch.
Oliveira creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Kint jumps guard but Oliveira stands there with Kint around his waist. Kint gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kint tries to pull guard but Oliveira won't allow it.
Kint lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Oliveira fails to land.

Kint pulls guard successfully.
Oliveira trying to control the position from guard on top but Kint is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kint is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Oliveira is aware though and is defending well.

Roger Kint overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oliveira wants to pass the guard but Kint is keeping the position.
Oliveira passes Kint's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Oliveira trying to control the action but Kint is working from the bottom.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Oliveira lands a nice short elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kint passes Oliveira's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Oliveira has given up his back here. Will Kint look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Oliveira is trying to break free.
Kint wants to control but Oliveira is keeping busy.

Kint is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Oliveira is defending well though. Kint let's go of the attempt for now.
Oliveira is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Kint off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oliveira wants to escape the position.

Kint has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Oliveira has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Kint is trying to stick to Oliveira's back but Oliveira is turning into Kint. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kint's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Oliveira.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kint wants to improve his position but Oliveira is controlling well.
Kint is trying to control but can't.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Oliveira darts in trying to clinch
enabling Kint to counter with a crisp jab.
Oliveira lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Oliveira throws a sloppy head kick and Kint moves out of range easily.
Oliveira throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oliveira tries to clinch but Kint moves away
letting Kint counter with a right hand.
Oliveira takes a swing at Kint's ribcage but misses.
Kint misses with a straight right.
Oliveira moves away from the strike by Kint.
Kint changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Oliveira throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Oliveira will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Kint loads up on a big right hand but Oliveira slips the punch.

Kint closes this distance looking for a takedown but Oliveira circles away.
Oliveira misses with a low kick.
Oliveira chopping away at his opponent's legs.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kint checks a leg kick.
Oliveira is looking to clinch but Kint is avoiding it.
Oliveira doesn't manage to clinch there - Kint circles away.

Kint is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Kint gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Kint avoids the elbow strike from Oliveira, against the cage.
Kint blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Oliveira lands an elbow inside.
Oliveira tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Oliveira gets underhooks to prevent Kint's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Kint. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oliveira misses with a hook from the clinch.

Ricardo Oliveira has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Oliveira lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Kint closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oliveira tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kint wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kint advances nicely into full mount.
Kint can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Oliveira is looking to escape.
Oliveira regains half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ricardo Oliveira comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Oliveira has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
