PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Miles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenichi Osada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mitch Miles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenichi Osada!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Osada throws a leg kick

and Miles counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Miles won't allow Osada to sweep him here.
Osada pulls Miles in close to prevent any damage.
Miles with a flurry of punches that miss.
Osada looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Osada working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Miles.
Miles throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Osada works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Miles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Miles wants to control from the top but Osada keeps moving.
Miles looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A combination from Miles does no damage.
Osada throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Miles.
Miles tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Osada dips to his left and cracks Miles with an uppercut!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Osada enables Miles to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Osada manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Miles has gone for a leg lock! Osada slips out almost immediately though and dives into Miles's guard.

Osada is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Osada trying to control but Miles is working from the bottom.
Osada is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kenichi Osada.
Osada moves in looking to clinch but Miles pushes him off.
Kenichi Osada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A nice inside leg kick there by Osada. That's going to slow Miles down.
Miles misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Miles throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Miles counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Osada throws a low kick, looking for Miles's leg but Miles calmly moves out of range.

The fight stays on the outside here - Miles looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Osada lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Miles throws a combination that misses
letting Osada counter with a right hand.
Miles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Osada throws a leg kick that misses.
Miles tries a head kick but it misses.
Osada fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Miles.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Osada connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Osada fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miles, pushing him back against the cage.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Osada breaks the clinch.
Osada throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Miles's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenichi Osada dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Miles tries to clinch but Osada is having none of it.
Osada cracks Miles with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Osada takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Osada using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Miles has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Osada pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Miles throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Osada's waist but Osada gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Miles off to one side.

Osada stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Osada throws a series of punches but Miles moves out of range.
Kenichi Osada seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Osada does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Osada throws the kick towards the body but Miles avoids it.
Osada misses with a kick to the body.
Miles goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Mitch Miles is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Miles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Miles has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Osada.
Miles keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Kenichi Osada is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Miles tries to score with a low kick but Osada moves his leg out of the way.

Miles misses with a shot to the kidneys.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Osada is fighting off a takedown attempt but Miles is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Osada to the mat. Osada regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Osada bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Miles's guard.

Kenichi Osada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Miles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Osada manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Miles closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Osada's guard.
Osada is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mitch Miles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Miles throws and elbow that misses. Osada uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Miles's guard. Nice move by Osada!

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Miles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Osada doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Osada manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Miles looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Osada passes into half guard.

Osada passes into side control, despite Miles's attempt to control the position.

Osada tries to move into full mount but can't pass Miles's legs.

Osada wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miles keeps working.

Miles is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Osada is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
