Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cassius Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hatsu Hioki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Payne kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is DMX: Where the Hood At . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cassius Payne!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hatsu Hioki!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hioki tries to clinch but Payne is having none of it.
Payne leaves Hioki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hioki gets caught napping as Payne dives in and scores a takedown. Hioki manages to retain guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hioki keeping moving, preventing Payne from controlling successfully.
Payne is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hioki is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Payne throws a strike but Hioki rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Payne is not content to let Hioki control the position.

Hioki thows a huge punch but Payne dodges it nicely.
Payne is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hioki's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hioki's back!

Payne is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hioki throws a strike but Payne rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Payne connects with a couple of short punches.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Payne cracks Hioki with a solid left hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Payne drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hioki manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Payne has Hioki in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hioki drops back, looking for a kneebar! Payne looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Payne looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Payne!

Payne is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hioki is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The referee asks Payne politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Payne prefers to stall for the moment though.
Payne misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Payne goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hioki rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Payne's guard! Nice work there by Hioki!

Payne misses with a takedown
and Hioki counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Payne throws a leg kick but Hioki sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Payne stuffs the takedown attempt from Hioki. Hioki gets slowly back to his feet.
Hioki dives in and grabs Payne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Payne pushes down on Hioki's head and hops out.

Payne shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Payne showed some decent athleticism there.

Payne is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Hioki still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Hioki has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Hioki is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Payne knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Hioki misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Hioki shoots in for a double leg but Payne sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
