Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mines with a poor takedown
and Everton counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Kris Mines has been cut.
Mines will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Everton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Everton holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kris Mines. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Everton misses with a takedown attempt - Mines sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Everton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mines paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Everton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Everton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Everton is looking to clinch but Mines is avoiding it.
Mines misses with the combination.

Everton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mines's guard.
Mines is breathing heavily.
Everton slips nicely into half guard.

Everton stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Mines to get to his feet.
Mines leaves Everton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd cheers as Everton lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mines doesn't seem phased though.

Everton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mines is fending him off so far but Everton persists. Nope, Mines circles away and we're back to standing.

Everton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mines is controlling him.

Mines working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Everton's head.
Everton wants to stand up but Mines is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mines decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Everton, up you get!

Mines closes the distance and pushes Everton back into the cage.

Mines works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Mines trying to control but Everton is working from the bottom.
Mines has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mines thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Everton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mines defends it easily.

Mines is sitting in close to Everton's body. Everton has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Mines is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Mines is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Everton.
