Smith comes to the cage accompanied by In The Morning. Tavarius has chosen Eminem - No Apologies as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Tavarius.
Tavarius takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Tavarius looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Tavarius throws a body punch but Smith moves out of range.
Tavarius thows a body shot but no joy.
Tavarius throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tavarius takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Tavarius blocks a head kick by Smith.
Smith stuns Tavarius with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Smith throws a push kick but Tavarius slaps the foot to one side.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tavarius moves out of range as Smith throws a body kick.
Tavarius thows a body shot but no joy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Tavarius is keeping the position.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Tavarius is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tavarius manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Tavarius's guard.
Tavarius really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Tavarius is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tavarius manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Tavarius's guard.
Tavarius tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tavarius can do anything to dispel that myth.

Tavarius bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.
Tavarius passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

Smith is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tavarius pulls his head out easily.
Tavarius is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
