Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan OReily (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan OReily!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wanderlei Silva!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

OReily is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Silva's half guard.
OReily performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is trying to escape back to his feet but OReily uses the scramble to pass into side control.
OReily content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
OReily tries to move into full mount but can't pass Silva's legs.

OReily is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Silva wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
A lull in the action here as OReily stalls from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ryan OReily just wasn't active enough.

OReily throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and OReily finishes the takedown easily into guard.
OReily looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Silva wants to stand and escape but OReily is having none of it.
OReily is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ryan OReily.

OReily shoots in and bounces Silva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silva can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as OReily controls the pace.

Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by OReily.
Nice straight punches there by Silva. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Silva.

Silva throws a series of strikes that have OReily backpedaling.


OReily is rocked!
Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.
Oh OReily is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
OReily tries to score a power double leg takedown but Silva sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten OReily somewhat.
OReily seems to have got his legs back now.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from OReily.

OReily shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
You get the feeling that Silva really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Silva prevents OReily from taking his back.
OReily controlling the pace for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



OReily closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Silva's guard.
OReily is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
OReily's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
OReily prevents Silva from getting back to his feet.
Silva is wriggling around but OReily manages to pass to half guard.

Silva feints a jab promting OReily to slip. Silva then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. OReily slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but OReily moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Silva throws a right and a left that OReily avoids nicely.

OReily shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Silva is trying to buck OReily off.
Silva is breathing heavily.
OReily slows the pace down.
Ryan OReily overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silva wants to get back to his feet but OReily drags him back down.
OReily advances to mount.
Silva trying desperately to get to his feet.
OReily controlling the pace for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

OReily takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OReily seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with.

Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, OReily asserts his dominance and retains side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
