The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saarinen bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Saarinen scores with a kick to the body.
Saarinen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Petrov's hands.
Petrov throws out a powerful jab.
Heikko Saarinen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Petrov missing with a left hand there. Saarinen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Saarinen rushes Petrov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Petrov doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Saarinen works on Petrov's body with a couple of short punches.
Petrov seems to have got his legs back now.

Saarinen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Saarinen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Petrov has time to react.

Saarinen is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Petrov had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Heikko Saarinen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
