PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jan Columbar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Devil went down to Georgia kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan Columbar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, John Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Columbar throws the kick towards the body but Thomas avoids it.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Thomas checks a leg kick.
Columbar misses with a body shot
and Thomas counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jan Columbar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Columbar.
Columbar uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thomas.
Columbar throws a solid leg kick but Thomas takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Columbar.
Columbar misses with an attempted mid kick.

Columbar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thomas was covering up waiting for the punch and Columbar finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Columbar lands a couple of digs.
Thomas has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Columbar has passed into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Columbar misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Columbar sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Thomas is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Columbar advances to mount.
Columbar has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Thomas's face.
Thomas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Thomas is bucking up trying to escape but Columbar cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
BOOM! Columbar connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Thomas is wriggling around trying to escape.
Columbar scores with a couple of good head shots there.


Thomas is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Columbar postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Thomas in real trouble here! The ref calls for Thomas to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jan Columbar!
After the fight, Jan Columbar was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
