And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Suraski!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meyer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Meyer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Suraski swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Suraski closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Meyer quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Meyer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Suraski postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Meyer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Suraski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Meyer is proving hard to escape from.

Suraski stands and steps away. Meyer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Suraski fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Meyer to the ground. Suraski is now in Meyer's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Meyer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Suraski in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Suraski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Meyer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Meyer throws a lazy right hand but Suraski sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

It looks like Kurt Meyer has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Suraski looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Dave Suraski has got the better of the ground game so far.

Suraski has an Americana. Meyer didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Suraski is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Suraski hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Dave Suraski really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Global Nutritional ACME (Q157) 90% ROR on Laundry logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
