The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rua utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Walter controlling from the top position.
Rua wants to stand up but Walter is controlling him.
Walter looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Walter wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walter is working hard here to advance position.
Walter looking to sit in guard and control but Rua gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Walter looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rua has picked Walter up and slammed him! Walter can't keep hold of the triangle and Rua manages to pass to side control!

Rua has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Walter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rua but Rua pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mauricio Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rua throws a series of punches but Walter moves out of range.
Walter shoots for a double leg takedown but Rua sprawls well. He's pushed Walter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Walter fails with the takedown.

Rua throws a hook but Walter blocks it.
Walter avoids a punch combination nicely.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rua wriggles free and stands up.

Walter sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Rua is squirming around, avoiding Walter's attempts to control the action.
Walter lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Rua looks gassed!

Walter lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walter fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Rua is rocked!

That has opened up Mauricio Rua's cut even more.
Walter lands a big elbow - Rua is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Rua is forced to tap out!
