PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kung Lao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lao comes to the cage accompanied by Mortal Kombat-Techno Kombat. Quaid has chosen Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kung Lao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Douglas Quaid!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao misses with a straight left.
Lao walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Quaid throws a hook but Lao blocks it.
Quaid takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lao is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Quaid throws a body punch but Lao moves out of range.
Lao misses with a hook. Quaid ducked under it nicely.
A clash of legs there as Quaid blocks the low kick.
Quaid fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lao avoids it really well and circles away.

Quaid lands with a nice combination. Lao backs away looking to recover.
Lao misses with a head kick.
Quaid misses with the combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Quaid. Lao does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lao punishes Quaid's body with a nice straight punch.
Lao moves in looking to clinch but Quaid pushes him off.
Some bone on bone action there as Quaid checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Lao tries to get the hooks in deep but Quaid pushed the leg off.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quaid covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Quaid trying to control the position but Lao manages to sink in the hooks.

Lao looking to break Quaid's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Quaid remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Lao will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Lao is persistently looking for the submission but Quaid is defending it well.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Quaid tries to escape but Lao has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Quaid is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Lao is hanging on to Quaid's back as he tries to escape.
Quaid is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Quaid turns into Lao and is now in his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Quaid postures up.
Lao wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Lao has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kung Lao dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Quaid checks a leg kick.
Lao swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Quaid misses with an uppercut. Lao saw that one coming.
Quaid looks to throw the jab but Lao is out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quaid missing with a left hand there. Lao was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Quaid thows a body shot but no joy.
Lao throws out a loose jab but Quaid uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lao throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Lao tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Quaid was well out of range. Poor timing from Lao.

A telegraphed right hand from Quaid misses the target.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Lao lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Quaid has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Quaid and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Lao thuds a left hand into Quaid's body.
Quaid lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Quaid.

Lao looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Quaid!
Quaid bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Douglas Quaid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Lao darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Quaid trying to hold on to Lao's head to control him but Lao postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quaid manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Lao is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Quaid pulls his head out easily.
Quaid is just content to waste time from the top position. Lao takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Quaid might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lao kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Quaid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lao swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lao shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Quaid as he avoids it easily.
Quaid moves out of range of the strikes.
Lao throws a head kick but Quaid moves out of range.

Quaid closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lao quickly recovers to half guard.
Quaid seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lao does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Douglas Quaid.
I think Quaid has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
