Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Slash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Hughs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Slash!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Chad Campbell and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughs feints and then cracks Slash's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Slash down.
Joe Hughs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Hughs.
Hughs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Slash manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Slash takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Slash shoots for a double leg takedown but Hughs sprawls well. He's pushed Slash's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hughs displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Slash.

Hughs forces Slash back against the cage and clinches.
Knees to the body from Hughs.

Hughs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hughs lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Slash shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Slash is trying to control. Hughs wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Slash is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Slash seems to be working for a kimura but Hughs defends the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slash trying to control from half guard but Hughs is working away.
Slash not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Hughs avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Slash.

Slash is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hughs defends it well.
Slash wants to free his trapped foot but Hughs is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughs keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Slash is stalling here. Hughs is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Slash seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hughs has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slash is looking to reverse the position.
Hughs just content to control the position.
Slash tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Slash manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hughs's best efforts.
Slash is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Hughs will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hughs's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Hughs gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Hughs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Slash chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hughs can pounce on him.
Hughs moves in looking to clinch but Slash pushes him off.
Hughs tries to clinch

and Slash counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Slash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hughs swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Slash trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Slash throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hughs works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slash wants to control from the top but Hughs keeps moving.
Hughs is adopting a defensive guard.
Slash with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hughs keeping moving, preventing Slash from controlling successfully.
Slash thows a big elbow that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slash throwing strikes but missing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hughs leaves Slash with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Slash. Hughs does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hughs lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Slash ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hughs moves away.

Hughs has closed the distance and engaged Slash in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hughs tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Slash is rocked!


It looks like Eddie Slash has been cut.
Hughs lands an elbow that stopped Slash in his tracks for a moment.
Slash is still on wobbly legs! Can Hughs finish him?
A right hand to the body from Hughs.

Hughs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hughs uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slash.
Hughs throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Slash crumples to the floor and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Joe Hughs!
