Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Henry Four (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Henry Four!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mitsuyo Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Four shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Henry Four seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maeda misses with an uppercut. Four saw that one coming.
Maeda lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The crowd cheers as Four lands an impressive looking overhand right. Maeda doesn't seem phased though.
A combination from Four does no damage.
Four throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Maeda counters with a nice body shot.
Four fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Four fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maeda avoids it really well and circles away.

and Four takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Henry Four has been cut.
A swing and a miss from Maeda.
Four rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maeda moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Maeda uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Four.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Maeda lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Four has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Four and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Four shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maeda's guard.

Maeda has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Four avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Four slips a jab and a cross from Maeda.
Four keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Maeda.
Four fails to land the takedown.
Maeda connects with the punch.
Maeda showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Four.

Four throws a series of punches but Maeda avoids them all with ease.
Maeda is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Maeda bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Four's head backwards.

Maeda is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Four had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Maeda scores with a one two! Four had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Four looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Maeda is fending him off so far but Four persists. Nope, Maeda circles away and we're back to standing.

Four shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maeda but Maeda pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Four is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Four shoots in looking for a takedown. Maeda tries to sprawl out of it but Four keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maeda manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Maeda closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Maeda wants to pass to mount but Four is defending the position.

Four is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Four might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Four won't allow Maeda to pass to mount.
Maeda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Four with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Four is looking for a sweep. Maeda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Well Maeda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
