PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Roger Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by It's A Fight. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Walter!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Walter to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson wants to stand but Walter is controlling the position.

Walter is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Walter goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Johnson turns into him and now he's in Walter's guard.
Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Walter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Walter's legs - danger averted.

Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Walter is trying to keep Johnson in close.
Johnson postures up and lands a big shot to Walter's brow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Johnson throws an elbow that misses. Walter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Walter!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walter stops Johnson from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Walter dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Walter shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.
Walter fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Johnson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Johnson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Walter eats them both and turns towards Johnson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Walter counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Walter drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Walter has Johnson in his guard.
Johnson tries to stand but Walter is controlling from the bottom.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walter on the ground.
Walter is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Walter is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Johnson frees his head nicely. Oh but Walter has switched to an armbar! Johnson is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Peter Walter!
After winning the bout, Peter Walter thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
